Dr. Heath Blockley is a Chattanooga native, born and raised in a family deeply rooted in dentistry. After graduating from Baylor School, where he excelled in academics and athletics, he pursued his passion for science and earned a dual degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville: a BS in Biochemistry and a BA in Philosophy.
Driven by a desire to serve others, Dr. Heath then earned his dental degree (DDS) from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis in 2006. In 2007, he joined his father, Dr. Thomas Blockley, in private practice, continuing the family legacy of providing exceptional dental care to the Chattanooga community.
Beyond his dedication to general dentistry, Dr. Heath developed a keen interest in the specialized field of forensic odontology. This unique branch of dentistry plays a vital role in criminal investigations, using dental evidence to identify victims, analyze bite marks, and assist law enforcement agencies.
In 2016, Dr. Heath completed a prestigious Fellowship in Forensic Odontology at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, gaining advanced training in the science of forensic investigating as it pertains to dentistry. He received extensive training in analyzing dental records, comparing bite marks, and identifying individuals through dental remains.
His commitment to forensic odontology led him to achieve board certification by the American Board of Forensic Odontology in 2022, a testament to his expertise in the field. Dr. Heath's dedication to forensic odontology has significantly benefited the Chattanooga area and beyond. His expertise in analyzing dental evidence has proven invaluable in numerous criminal investigations, aiding law enforcement agencies in identifying victims, analyzing bite marks, and ultimately helping to bring closure to families. His commitment to advancing the field of forensic odontology, through his studies, training, and active participation in professional organizations, has raised awareness of the critical role dentistry plays in the crime-solving process, making Chattanooga and its surrounding areas safer.
Dr. Heath is an active member of the Chattanooga Area Dental Society, the Tennessee Dental Association, and the American Dental Association, serving at both the local and state levels. He is also a dedicated member of the Chattanooga Area Dental Society Board, demonstrating his commitment to the advancement of the dental profession.
Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Heath has a deep passion for serving his community and those in need. He has participated in numerous medical and dental mission trips to Honduras, Haiti, and Bolivia, providing essential dental care to underserved populations. He has also volunteered his time and skills at the Inner-City Dental Clinic and the Remote Area Medical (RAM) Clinic, ensuring that everyone has access to quality dental care.
